This piece entitled 'By the Water's Edge' is part of an exhibition of original paintings by local artist Louise Lennon.

Louise Lennon is a contemporary realist artist with a distinctive style. Inspired by the local rural landscape, Louise has been exploring a concept from Japanese Art called Notan, which focuses on the balance of light and dark, positive and negative spaces. 'Catching the Light' encapsulates what Louise tries to capture in her paintings. She aims to convey the warmth from the sunlight by emphasising the warm tones in the palette; using pinks and oranges where the sunlight is hitting the subject and contrasting that with cooler tones in the shadow.

The painting has been professionally framed in a white wooden frame to complement the piece and is not behind glass so that the true texture can be appreciated.
